Debit Card SCAM
NOTICE to First Community Bank Customers:
First Community Bank has received information that some of our customers are receiving phone calls that appear to be from First Community Bank stating the customer’s “debit card is locked.” These calls are not from First Community Bank and are an automated system, which is “phishing” for your information. This automated system asks several questions requiring numeric answers. First it asks the customer “to press 1 to be connected to our security department to unlock your card,” then goes on to state “please verify your identity by entering your 16 digit account number,” and finally asks for zip code, expiration date, and PIN.
First Community Bank has not made these phone calls and is cautioning all customers that this is a SCAM. First Community Bank urges consumers to guard their personal information and reminds them to never give their personal information over the phone.
If you have received one of these phone calls, and did give information over the phone, we recommend you contact First Community Bank immediately. We also regret any inconvenience these fraudulent phone calls may cause you.
